Week 11

Hello Week 11,
This week I'm going to be talking about my design challenge. This week I was tasked to design a single detail page, of a dating app, for sports fan in the span of 15 minutes. My first thought was about that old junior high school game, Spin the Bottle. Now, these days there's all sorts of serious algorithms that go into dating apps. I thought it would be nice to take it back to simpler days and make dating fun by playing a fun game. And as it is a game, it will be well suited to my target audience of sports fans.
The first thing I did was draw two rectangles for a bottle, yikes. Be glad you didn't see that one. But it's function was to hold place in the wireframe as I filled out the app a little more. After that, I build a large button on the bottom that says SPIN! Which, as you can probably guess, cause the bottle to spin and bring up a new person. I put a dating profile photo of a man up next, with a little expansion button you can click to see more. I do wish that I had made an option where you can slide to see more photos before you expand. It's more work to tap expand when you might not be fully committed to matching with the person. Speaking of that, I totally forgot to create a button that allowed you to match. That's what happens when you go fast. To the heading above, I added a profile icon that you would tap to edit your own profile. Then on the left side I just a hamburger button with the idea that setting would live inside there.
If I had more time, I would've adjusted the dimensions so the whitespace was less and also looked more balanced. I also would have figured out a different option for the bottle. The photo is okay, the drawing I sketched out was terrible. I would have liked to created some sort of illustration with an animation perhaps. I would make it look fun and engaging while trying to avoid making it look super cheesy.
