Week 3
Today I will be teaching you about color in app designs. My five year old niece is here for the holidays, so I will be teaching you the basics as if I was teaching her. The first thing to know about color, is that it all has to match. There are certain colors that look better together than others do. There are warm colors like yellow, red and orange. Cool colors, are colors that are like blue, green and purple. Sometimes, you can mix different shades of the same color and they look good together. The thing you need to pay attention to though, when designing an app is that all the colors are the same tone. For example, if you were to greyscale all of your colors, they would end up being the same shade of grey. If they're not the same color, you need to adjust the tone so they would be if grayscale.
Color is a big part of branding, which is how someone recognizes who you are. Branding tells a story of your company. If you want someone to feel happy, you will use bright colors. If you want someone to feel calm, you would use colors that are more subdued, or bland. Oftentimes, when you're creating branding for a customer, you gather lots of photos or pictures and you put them together in one as a mood-board. You pick different themes for each mood-board. Then you let the client choose which mood board best represents them. Color has a big part in this process! And there you go. There is a basic introduction to color that can hopefully be understood by my five year old niece.
